Queen Mary Maternity Unit
Wrapping our newest little people in warmth and love.
Our community has been invited to support our local Queen Mary Maternity Unit by knitting handmade garments for full-term newborn babies. Every baby who leaves Queen Mary goes home with a little piece of kindness, a lovingly knitted garment created by our community.
Every tiny garment carries with it the love of the hands that made it.
What we'd love you to knit: Newborn sizes only • 100% Wool, 75% wool/ 25% nylon (100% acrylic cannot be accepted) • Drop items to any Community Knit session • Beanies • Fish & Chip Sweaters • Singlets • Baby Blankets
Local Kindergartens & Primary Schools
Keeping our tamariki warm, one stitch at a time.
We are often asked by local kindergartens and primary schools to help keep their tamariki warm through the gift of handmade knitting. These special pieces remain at the education centres, ready to warm and comfort many little wearers for years to come.

Ways You Can Help
Not everyone knits, and that's important.
You could help by knitting an item, donating yarn, sewing in ends, helping pack deliveries, joining us at Community Knit, or simply encouraging others to get involved. Everybody has something to contribute.
Why We Do It
People often ask how many items we've donated over the years.
The truth is, we've never counted. For us, Charity Knits has never been about numbers. It's about knowing that every beanie, every jersey and every blanket was created with kindness by someone who simply wanted to help another person.
Whether we knit one item or one hundred, every stitch matters. And that's enough for us.
