This year’s shawl takes inspiration from fragmented geometric shapes and reflective colour contrasts, creating a KALeidoscopic journey full of twists, turns and unexpected combination.

For the fourth year, Crofters Yarn is joining Stephen West's annual Mystery Knit Along, and this year we're opening it up as a proper Crofters experience.

Whether you're a Westknits veteran or this is your very first mystery shawl, come and knit along with us throughout October.

Four clues. Four weeks. One mystery shawl. 

And this year, you choose the colours.  Build your own Westknits colour story, forget pre-made kits.  We want you to create a shawl that feels like you.

Choose your favourite colour, tell us what you're drawn to, bring along an idea you've been dreaming about, or simply tell us you have absolutely no idea where to start.

We'll help you explore the Crofters Wool Wall and curate a colour combination you're excited to knit.

Bold and contrasting?  Soft and tonal?  A beautiful gradient?  Something completely unexpected?

Join Adam and Aurora for our four Tuesday evening sessions throughout October - 6th, 13th, 20^th and 27^th, plus one final night to celebrate.

6.30pm to 8.30pm

Each week we'll come together to work through the mystery, talk through the clue, share our progress, troubleshoot techniques and, most importantly, enjoy knitting together.

Your in-person booking also includes access to our private Crofters MKAL group, so the conversation and support doesn't stop when you leave the room.

And if you buy your complete MKAL yarn selection from Crofters:  Your participation cost is just $20, and we will give you a $40 rebate on your participation cost.

Can't make it to Dunedin or on the night?

Join our Crofters MKAL virtually through our private Crofters MKAL group.

Adam and Aurora will lead the group throughout October, giving you a place to discuss each clue, share your progress, ask questions, get help and enjoy the mystery alongside other Crofters knitters.

And if you buy your complete MKAL yarn selection from Crofters:  Your participation cost is just $10, and we will give you a $25 rebate on your participation cost.

We won't be telling you which colours you should buy.  We'll help you choose them.

And while you're putting your palette together, we'll also have plenty of mohair, needles, stitch markers and tip protectors, available to help you complete your project.

You are welcome to purchase the pattern instore through our Ravelry Store, or purchase it through your own account, let us know what you would prefer - Westknits are releasing the pattern on 3rd September, we will be able to purchase it after that date.

This will be my seventh Stephen West Mystery Shawl, so I can confidently say I know the excitement of opening that first clue, wondering what on earth we're doing, and eventually watching the whole thing come together.

I'll be knitting along with you this year too, although Adam and Aurora will be taking the lead while I recover from surgery.

And I cannot wait to see the colours you choose.
